Here is what happens. You display a jumbo card containing a picture of an elephant then put it behind your back. When you bring it out again it shows a picture of a spear. Placing it behind your back and bringing it out shows the picture of the elephant. It seems you are only turning the card around behind your back. But the next time you put it behind your back and bring it back out the spear is gone and replaced by a picture of a tree! This is followed by a picture of a wall. One more time behind your back and all these images vanish to be replaced by symbols of various world religions. When you turn the card around in full view of your audience, the card contains a picture of Jesus Christ.

The illusion teaches the importance of knowing the whole truth before jumping to conclusions, and the fact that all religions are not the same; there is only one way to eternal life – through Christ.

The illustrations center around a very ancient story most popularized in the mid-1800s by John Godfrey. In the ancient story, three blind men touched an elephant. One touched the trunk and said the elephant was like a snake; another touched the ear and said the elephant was like a fan; and another touched the tail and thought the elephant was like a rope.

This routine was inspired by an article published in “The Apologetics Study Bible” by Craig J. Hazen of Biola University, entitled “Aren’t All Religions Basically the Same?”

All you need is a printer, cardstock, and black tape to perform this amazing effect.
