You are holding a rope with a knot tied in the end of the rope. You wrap the rope around your thumb and create an ‘eye’ which is secured between your thumb and first finger. You explain that you can now feed the knot and end of rope through the ‘eye’ without ever letting go of the rope.

It looks impossible but, in the blink of an eye, you do just that. The knot and the end of the rope penetrate the eye and you never let go of the rope!
