Turn Your Back On The Devil

What is amazing about this Gospel magic trick by George Sprague is; for a trick which requires no sleight-of-hand or skill, and with a secret that is incredibly simple and so easy to do – this one just flat leaves everybody (including magicians who don’t know it) dumbfounded! Do not let the simplicity of this throw you!

This was among my first Gospel magic creations. The effect is based on a very old card trick which usually used just any combination of two of one color card and ten of the other color cards. One secular magic retailer sells a variation of the secular trick for $10.00.

You show twelve cards and then hand six face-down to a volunteer. He places his six cards behind his back. He then takes any one of the six cards, and without looking at it, places it face-down on the table in front of you. You take the remaining six cards and place them behind your back at the same time as your volunteer does, and place a card face-down on the table in front of him. Your volunteer takes this face-down card, puts it behind his back, and turns it face-up. Both your volunteer and you bring your cards around front and place them on the table face-down. The two face-up cards are both pictures of Christ. You powerfully reinforce the amazing selection by turning over all of the cards and spreading them out to reveal that all of the other cards are pictures of the devil. You and your volunteer have turned your backs on the devil and both correctly chosen Christ.
